Feline lower urinary tract disease(FLUTD)is a collective term for a series of diseases of the lower urinary system in cats, including urethral obstruction, urethritis, bladder stones, spontaneous cystitis, etc. The etiology of this type of disease is complex, and the clinical symptoms include frequent urination, dripping urine, urinary retention, hematuria, etc. The clinical symptoms are similar among different types of cases. There is a certain mortality rate and a high recurrence rate.Due to the rise of indoor pet cats in urban areas, this type of disease accounts for a certain proportion of cat related cases in the long term and has a stable growth trend. The onset of FLUTD is often accompanied by severe pain, complex diagnosis, expensive treatment, and a risk of recurrence. It not only poses a threat to the quality of the life of pet cats, but also causes significant economic and psychological pressure on owners. This study conducted a statistical analysis of cases of FLUTD admitted to five animal hospitals in Yangzhou urban area from January 1,2021 to December 31,2021.Typical cases were studied, and three clinical cases were selected to analyze the diagnosis and treatment process, providing experience for the prevention and treatment of FLUTD.In 2021,five animal hospitals admitted a total of 885 feline cases, including 115 cases of lower urinary tract diseases, accounting for12.99%.The disease mostly occurs in winter and early spring, with 60 cases in January,February,March, and December, accounting for 52.2%.The age of onset is concentrated in 1 to 3 years old, with 31 cases aged 1to 2 years old,and 32 cases aged 2 to 3 years old, accounting for 54.8%of the total. The weight is concentrated between 4 to 6kg,with 36 cases ranging from 4 to 5kg and 27 cases ranging from 5 to 6kg,accounting for54.8% of the total. There were 104 male cats, accounting for 90.4%,and11 female cats, accounting for 9.6%.The main breeds are British shorthair cats and pastoral cats, with 49 cases of British shorthair cats(including British shorthair blue cats)accounting for 42.6%,27 cases of pastoral cats(including Dragon Li cats)accounting for 23.5%,and 12 cases of other cats such as ragdolls accounting for 10.4%.Among the main symptoms,77 cases had hematuria(66.9%),29 cases had crystallization(25.2%),16 cases had stones(13.9%),and 15 cases had renal failure. There were 6 deaths, with a mortality rate of 5.2%.There were 25 recurrent cases, with a recurrence rate of 21.7%.Among them,10 cases had multiple relapses, with a maximum of 8 relapses. Most recurrent cases have their first onset before 2021,with the earliest trace back to 2017.There were 26 cases of sterilization, accounting for 22.6%.There were cases of onset before and after sterilization or cases of sterilization performed during treatment.57 cases underwent catheterization, accounting for 49.6%.15 cases underwent surgical treatment, and 1 case experienced postoperative recurrence, with a cure rate of 93.3%.Conclusion: Seasonal and temperature factors are significantly correlated with incidence rate.During the diagnosis process, sufficient laboratory and imaging examinations are required to determine the condition, and catheterization is preferred for obstructive cases.Conservative treatment has a significant recurrence rate, while surgical treatment has a lower recurrence rate.
