Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate Perilla silage's nutrient component,its feeding value and its effects on growth performance,rumen fermentation,blood biochemical indexes and immunoglobulin levels of new brown hybrid beef cattle.The trial cattle were fed Perilla silage instead of 50% silage corn of base diet based on dry matter.The results will provide reality theoretical sense for utilization of Perilla as feed in beef cattle production.Methods:(1)Two samples of silage Perilla and unfermented Perilla were collected,and their conventional nutrition indexes(moisture,DM,CP,ADF,NDF,Ash,Ca,P,TDN)were determined to analyze the nutritional value and compare the differences of conventional nutrition contents between the two feeds.(2)According to the feeding effect of silage Perilla on Xinjiang brown beef cattle and the effect of silage Perilla on the production performance of Xinjiang brown beef cattle(dry matter intake,daily weight gain,feed weight ratio),40 Xinjiang brown beef cattle with average weight of 202±38.5kg at 5 months were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups with 20 bulls in each group.The control group was fed with the whole mixed base diet,and the experimental group was fed with silage Perilla instead of silage corn with the same dry matter of 50% in the whole mixed base diet.The experimental period was 60 days.During the experiment,the beginning and end weight,dry matter intake and feed weight ratio of Xinjiang brown beef cattle were measured.(3)The beef of experimental group 2 were collected vein blood in test 60 days,and then the blood temples were standed at room temperature natural precipitation serum,serum gently pour into two 5 ml centrifuge tube,add-freezing under 80? in order to determine the blood biochemical indexes and immunoglobulin(IgA,IgG,IgM)level,the research of silage Perilla impact on beef cattle blood biochemical indexes and immune function.(4)To study the effect of silage Perilla on rumen fermentation indexes of Xinjiang brown beef cattle,10 beef cattle were randomly selected from the experimental group and the control group,respectively.During the 60 th day of the experimental periods,tumor gastric juice was collected by rumen intubation,and then was frozen at-80? to determine rumen fermentation parameters.Results:(1)Compared with unleavened Perilla,silage perilla of dry matter of Perilla were significantly lower(P<0.05),neutral detergent fiber content of silage Perilla,acid washing fiber content was reduced by 13.5% respectively(P<0.05)and 18.9%(P<0.05).The dry matter,crude protein,ash,calcium and phosphorus content of silage Perilla and unleavened Perilla is no significant difference(P>0.05).Total digestible nutrients silage Perilla is significantly higher than unleavened Perilla(P<0.05).(2)Silage Perilla in the diet had no significant effect on the growth performance(dry matter intake,average daily weight gain and feed weight ratio)of Xinjiang brown beef cattle(P>0.05).(3)Silage Perilla was added in the diet for a Xinjiang brown beef cattle serum biochemical indexes(total protein,albumin,globulin,triglyceride,total cholesterol,glucose,urea,creatinine and alkaline phosphatase)levels of influence was not significant(P>0.05).Compared with the control group,the serum IgA content in experimental group increased by 7.62%,(P<0.01)and the influence on IgG and IgM content was not significant(P>0.05).(4)Silage Perilla was added in the diet for a Xinjiang brown beef cattle rumen pH,LA,MCP,acetic acid,propionic acid,isobutyric acid,butyric acid,isovaleric acid,valeric acid,total volatile fatty acid effect was not significant(P>0.05).Compared with the control group,Perilla group of ammonia nitrogen,acetic acid/propionic acid significantly reduced 19.4% and 25.4%,respectively(P<0.05).All the indicators are within the normal range values.Conclusion:(1)Perilla straw silage Perilla is well maintained,the content of moisture,protein and mineral elements in dry matter,neutral detergent fiber,acid washing fiber content decreased significantly,and silage of Perilla digestion rate and total digestible nutrients were increased.This provide more sufficient energy for beef cattle growth,reduce the production cost and improve the economic benefit.(2)The silage Perilla was used to replace silage corn with the dry matter basis of 50% in the whole mixed base diet.The dry matter intake of beef cattle decreased somewhat,but it had no significant difference.So,the production performance of beef cattle was not affected.Otherwise,silage Perilla was replaced silage corn with low-cost silage Perilla,which actually improved the economic benefits.(3)Silage Perilla was added in the diet to replace silage corn with the dry matter basis of 50% in the whole mixed diet.The blood biochemical indexes of beef cattle had no significant effect through increasing the content of IgA and enhanced the immune function of beef cattle.(4)Silage Perilla was used to instead of silage corn with the dry matter basis of 50% in the whole mixed base diet,which had a stabilizing effect on rumen pH,increased the degradation rate of crude fiber and maintained the rumen microbial balance.
