Theoretical Research On Maimendong Decoction In Treating Yin-deficiency And Phlegm-retention Syndrome Of Lung Diseases

Yin-deficiency and Phlegm-retention Syndrome is a special syndrome of lung disease.The clinical manifestations include Yin-deficiency syndrome and phlegm-retention syndrome.The treatments are nourishing Yin and eliminating phlegm.It is common in the late stage of respiratory disease.Relative records about Yin-deficiency phlegm and retained fluid can be found in medical records during Ming-Qing period.Before that,there were a few medical discussions.Exploring the pathological mechanism of lung disease due to yin-deficiency phlegm and retained fluid from several aspects,such as Yin-Yang imbalance,qi disorder and viscera misadjustment.According to the clinical manifestations,there are two types of Yin-deficiency and phlegm-retention syndrome:cough and cough with asthma.The analysis of prescription and the text of Maimendong Decoction in Synopsis of Golden Chamber showed that it can be used to treat the disease involving both lung and stomach.So it should have the effect of dissolving phlegm and retained fluid.Maimendong Decoction can be used to treat Yin-deficiency phlegm and retained fluid based on above conclusion.Jinshui Liujun Decoction is a classic decoction for Yin-deficiency and Phlegm-retention Syndrome.By comparing the differences between Maimendong Decoction and Jinshui Liujun Decoctiont,the main treatment areas of the two prescriptions were found to be different.The former cures the lung-kidney Yin deficiency and the latter treats the lung-stomach Yin deficiency.Yin-deficiency and Phlegm-retention Syndrome is common in chrornic bronchitis,chronic obstruct pulmonary disease(COPD),radioactivity lung injury,chronic pulmonary fibrosis,lung cancer after radiotherapy and chemotherapy and other respiratory diseases.The clinical experience of how to modify the Maimendong Decoction in inscription will provide an idea for clinic therapy of Yin-deficiency and Phlegm-retention Syndrome.
