The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical constituents of traditional Chinese medicine(Rabdosia rubescens H.and Euphorbia thymifolia L.)and and to investigate the cytotoxic activities of the isolated compounds. The constituents isolated and purified by various chromatographic means were elucidated by the methods of NMR and HR-ESI-MS.MTT assays were performed to delect the viability of hela,HepG2,A549,MCF-7,caco-2 and Huh7.5 cells by different concentrations of the isolated compounds.Firstly,Twenty compounds isolated from Rabdosia rubescens H.are 3-(2H-chromen-2-yl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenol(1),Obtustyrene(2),Isomucronustylene(3),elemicin(4),(+)-Melilotocarpan A(5),(-)-4-methoxymaackiain(6),trans-Phytol(7),ethyl linolenate(8),methyl Linoleate(9),ethyl Linoleate(10),?-amyrin(11),?-amyrin(12),3-acetoxyurs-12-en-28-ol(13),ursolic aldehyde(14),?-tocopherol(15),15-Isopimaren-3?,8?-diol(16),(-)-globulol(17),?-Amyrenone(18),?-Amyrenone(19),vitamin E quinone(20),dalberpene(21).compound 1is a new flavonoids,Compounds 2-6 were isolated from this plant for the first time. When the concentration of the drugs was 100 ?Mol/L,compound 20 significantly reduced the proliferation of A549 and hepg 2cells.Secondly,Seven compounds isolated and purified from Euphorbia thymifolia L.are identified as secoisolariciresinol(22),dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol(23),3-[2-(4-hydroxyl-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]propyl acetate(24),3,3'-bis(3,4-dihydro-4-hydroxy-6-methoxy-2H-1-benzopyran)(25),and apigenin-7-O-?-D-glucopyranside(26),butylbrevifolin carboxylate(27),and apigenin(28).Compounds 22-27 were isolated from this plant for the first time. When the concentration of the drugs was 40?Mol/L,compound 27 significantly reduced the proliferation of A549 and hepg 2 cells.
