Objective :To explore the relationship between the Single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)of IL-20 gene rs 1713239,rs2981572 locus / STAT3 gene rs8078731,rs9912773 locus and low bone mineral density in elder population.Methods :To select 345 elderly people(? 60 years old)from geriatric wards of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University between October 2015 and July 2018.Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry was used to check BMD(bone mineral density)of total hip and femoral nack.All the patients were grouped into normal bone density group(n=170)including:105male cases,65 female cases and osteopenia+osteoporosis group(n=175)including: 91 male cases,84 female cases,on the basis of BMD.The SNPs were identified by SNaPshot.Results :(1)Genotypic distributions of the IL-20 and STAT3 gene polymorphism were consistent with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in all subjects.(2)Between two groups,the distribution of IL-20 gene polymorphisms allele and genotype frequency are no statistically significant difference(p>0.05);Also comparision between male and female in the two groups,the distribution of IL-20 gene polymorphisms are no statistically significant difference(p>0.05).(3)Between two groups,the distribution of STAT3 gene polymorphisms genotype frequency and G allele are no statistically significant difference(p>0.05);While the C allele frequencies is higher in low BMD group than the normal BMD group(p<0.05).Also comparision between male and female in the two groups,the distribution of STAT3 gene polymorphisms are no statistically significant difference(p>0.05).(4)Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that 25(OH)D is associated with low BMD(OR=0.965,95%CI:0.948~0.983,P <0.05),Low BMD raise blood calcium level(OR=8.463,95%CI:1.941~36.901,P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)IL-20 gene polymorphisms and rs8078731 polymorphism of STAT3 gene are not associated with low BMD.C allele of STAT3 gene rs9912773 polymorphism is associated with low BMD.(2)25(OH)D is associated with low BMD,Low BMD raise blood calcium level.
