Background:Owing to intestinal inflammation, patients with inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)often suffer malnutrition.Previous studies have developed some nutrition-related parameters, malnutrition in particular. However,it is still unclear if IBD patients exhibit typical changes of those parameters. In addition, the nutrition-related pamaters in association with disease severity, treatment, and prognosis, remain to be elucidated. Objective:To study changes of the nutrition-related parameters in IBD patients, and to explore the correlation of above changes in the patients with IBD disease activity and prognosis.Method:Between January 2017 and January 2019,177 outpatient and hospitalized patients with IBD and 177 volunteers in our hospital were recruited in the study. The nutrition related parameters including levels of serum total protein, serum albumin, hemoglobin content, high density lipoprotein,Body mass index(BMI),CC(calf circumference),UAMC(upper arm muscle circumference),mini nutritional assessment(MNA)and patient-generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA)nutritional scores were recorded.Patients with IBD were re-evaluated with those parameters after 4 months of conventional treatment.Result:Compared with normal people, patients with IBD had higher PG-SGA scores, lower hemoglobin, serum total protein,high-density lipoprotein, calf circumference, upper arm circumference,BMI,and MNA scores(P<0.05).Hemoglobin,serum total protein, serum albumin,high-density lipoprotein,BMI,upper arm muscle circumference, calf circumference,MNA score,PG-SGA score were significant difference among different disease severity in patients with Crohn's disease(P<0.05).Hemoglobin,total serum protein, serum albumin, upper arm muscle circumference, calf circumference,MNA score, and PG-SGA score were significant difference in different disease severity of patients with ulcerative colitis(P<0.05).Hemoglobin,total serum protein, serum albumin,high-density lipoprotein,BMI?MNA score, and PG-SGA score were significant difference in different therapeutic effects of Crohn's disease patients(P<0.05).Hemoglobin,total serum protein, serum albumin,BMI?MNA score, and PG-SGA score were significant difference in different therapeutic effects of ulcerative colitis(P<0.05).Conclusion:Changes in nutritional indicators and nutritional scores of patients with IBD can be used to monitor changes in diseases severity and assess therapeutic effects.(2)Hemoglobin,total blood protein, serum albumin,CC,MNA score, and PG-SGA score in patients with Crohn's disease can be used as indicators for assessing disease activity.Hemoglobin, total blood protein, serum albumin,high-density lipoprotein,UAMC,CC,MNA score, and PG-SGA score can be used as indicators for evaluating the therapeutic effect.(3)Hemoglobin,total blood protein, serum albumin,CC,MNA score, and PG-SGA score in patients with ulcerative colitis can be used as indicators for assessing disease activity.Hemoglobin, total blood protein, serum albumin,BMI,MNA score, and PG-SGA score can be used as indicators for evaluating the therapeutic effect.
