ObjectiveTo compare the daily intake status of antioxidant nutrients including vitamin A,vitamin E,vitamin C,selenium and related food of Chinese senior residents aged 60 years and above in 2002 and 2010 to 2013,and to analy the change trend over 10 past years.Subjects and MethodsSubjects9991 subjects participated in the dietary review survey in the program of "Survey on Nutrition and Health Status of Chinese Residents in 2002"and 16186 subjects participated in the dietary review in the program of"Chinese Nutrition and Health Surveillance in 2010-2013".The 3-day 24-hour retrospective dietary data in two surveys were analyzed.MethodsThe daily intake status of antioxidant nutrients including vitamin A,vitamin E,vitamin C,selenium and related food of Chinese senior residents aged 60 years and above in 2002 and 2010 to 2013 were analyzed according to the age and region group using stratification analysis method. The main food sources for each antioxidant nutrient were identified by using linear correlation analysis. The changing trend in the past 10 years were studied by comparing the dieary data in 2002 and 2010 to 2013.All the data cleaning and analysis was done by using SAS9.4.The mean and rate were post-weighted using the sixth census data for 2010 and calculated using"suveymean"and"surveyfreq"procedures.Rank sum test and covariance analysis was used for the difference examination.Result1.Antioxidant Nutrients and Related Food Intake of the Elderly in China in 2002 The average intake of retinal activity equivalent, vitamin C,a-tocopherol and selenium in the elderly in China were 283.O?g,79.4mg,7.7mg and 37.3?g,respectively with the proportion reaching the corresponding RNI or AI been 4.4%,25.8%,9.9%and 11.6%.The daily intake status of vitamin A and vitamin C of the elderly in the South region was higher than North region, while the daily intake status of vitamin E and selenium in North was higher than that in South. The daily intake status of vitamin C in rural areas was higher than urban areas, and daily intake status of other nutrients in urban areas were higher than that in rural. The daily intake status the four antioxidant nutrients in the 60 to 69 years old ranked first in the three age groups. The percentage of elderly people with daily vegetable intake reached 300g was 32.3%,and only 10.0%of the elderly had a daily vegetable intake of 300g and dark vegetables account for 1/2.4.2%of the elderly daily fruit intake reaches 200g.The proportion of the elderly with an edible oil intake between 25 and 30 g was 11.8%,33.2%elderly intook more than 50g/d potato. The proportion of daily intake amount of seafood and eggs that over 40g was 22.3%and 23.0%respectively.The rural elderly intook more plant food, and the urban elderly intook more animal food. The intaking amount of vegetables, pork, animal oil and seafood were higher in the South region, while the intaking amount of eggs, other animal meat, fruits, vegetable oil, flour and potatoes were higher in the North. There was no significant change trend of food intake with age.2.Antioxidant Nutrients and Related Food Intake of the Elderly in China in 2012 The average intake of retinal activity equivalent, vitamin C,a-tocopherol and selenium in the elderly in China was 234.7?g,70.0mg,6.7mg and 37.6?g,respectively with the proportion reaching the corresponding RNI or AI been 4.0%,20.0%,7.4%and 11.3%.The daily intake status of vitamin A and vitamin C of the elderly in the South region was higher than North region, while the daily intake status of vitamin E and selenium in North was higher than that in South. The daily intake status four nutrients in urban areas were higher than that in rural. There was no statistically significant difference in vitamin A intake among the elderly of different age groups. The daily intake status of vitamin A and vitamin E in the 60 to 69 years old ranked first in the three age groups. The percentage of elderly people with daily vegetable intake reached 300g was 28.3%,and only 7.0%of the elderly had a daily vegetable intake of 300g and dark vegetables account for 1/2.4.2%of the elderly daily fruit intake reached 200g.The proportion of the elderly with an edible oil intake between 25g and 30g was 10.4%.25.6%elderly intook more than 50g/d potato. The proportion of daily intake amount of seafood and eggs that over 40g was 15.8%and 18.7%respectively.The rural elderly intook more animal oil and potato than the urban. The intaking amount of dark vegetables, pork, animal oil and seafood were higher in the South region, while the intaking amount of light color vegetables, eggs, fruits, vegetable oil, flour food and potato were higher in the North. There was no significant change trend of food intake with age.3.Trends of antioxidant nutrients and related food intake in the Chinese elderly during the past 10 yearsCompared with 2002,the intake amount of retinal activity equivalent, vitamin C and a-tocopherol in 2012 descended, while selenium intake amount in 2012 increased slightly. The intaking amount of pork, fruit and vegetable oil in the Chinese elderly showed a slight upward trend, while the intaking amount of vegetables, other meat, edible oil, flour, seafood and potatoes decreased. There was no statistically significant change in egg intake.Conclusion1.The risk of antioxidant nutrient deficiency in the elderly population in China was high, especially with vitamin A.Compared with 2002,the proportion of vitamin A,vitamin C,vitamin E and selenium intake reached the corresponding RNI or AI gradually decreased in the elderly population of China.2.The intake of foods rich in antioxidant nutrients by the elderly in China was obviously insufficient and the dietary structure was unreasonable.Compared with 2002,the intaking amount of food except for pork, fruit and vegetable oil showed a downward trend. The proportion of food meet the recommended intake of dietary guidelines gradually decreased.3.The intaking amount of vitamin A and vitamin C of the elderly in the South was higher than that in the North, and the intaking amount of vitamin E and selenium of the elderly in the North was higher than that in the South. There was a significant difference in the food rich in antioxidant nutrients between the North and South.4.The intaking amount of antioxidant nutrients in urban elderly was generally higher than that in rural areas, and the food intaking amount of food rich in antioxidant nutrients was significantly different between rural and urban areas.Compared with 2002,the difference in food intaking amount between urban and rural areas had gradually narrowed.
