ObjectiveBy retrospective anylysis on Siweixiaoliuyin treatment of brain glioma and long term follow-up of patients survival outcomes, exploring therapeutic and predictive effect of this TCM treatment, studying the microsopic relationship between TCM syndrome type and pathology, objectively analyzing the curative effect and feasibility of this set of TCM methods.MethodsThe relevant data of patients who met the criteria in the study of Siweixiaoliuyin from 2013 wre included in the study. The study was divided into two parts:study on the relationship between syndrome type and histopathology(tumor grade, tumor type)in 95 patients and the relationship between syndrome type and Ki-67 phenotype in 40 patients;therapeutic analysis of Siweixiaoliuyin treatment on patients(survival quality and survival time),as well as other factors affecting the survival outcome of patients with glioma.ResultsThe first part:scorpion venom type, liver fire type and kidney deficiency type are common TCM syndromes of glioma patients, and also a common type of high-grade glioma patients(P<0.05).TCM syndrome type was associated with glioblastoma(P<0.05),and the proportion of scorpion venom in glioblastoma was the highest(39.02%).The expression of Ki-67 increased with the increase of glioma grade(P<0.05),but there was no difference between TCM syndromes(P>0.05).The second part:age,TCM symptom score wre related to the overall survival time of patients(P<0.05 in single factor analysis).TCM symptom score and Siweixiaoliuyin treatment were independent factors related to overall survival time of patients(multi-factor analysis,P<0.05).The higher the TCM syndrome score, the shorter the survival time(B=0.132);Siweixiaoliuyin treatment was the protective factor for the survival time of patients(B=-O.953).In the baseline assessment, the TCM symptom score of the Chinese medicine treatment group was so high(P<0.05)that the results of the Chinese medicine in the single factor analysis were considered to be disturbed.Comparing the quality of life of patients with glioma 1 month before and after treatment, the average TCM symptom score of the treatment group decreased by 6.06 points, and the KPS score increased by 9.14 points, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The quality of life of the control group was not improved or even declined.ConclusionThere is a relationship between TCM syndrome type and microscopic pathology of glioma, which is helpful to guide the practice of clinical TCM syndrome differentiation of glioma in the future. However, this study lacks samples and latest tumor diagnosis data, which requires more clinical research to further explore the mysteries of Chinese medicine and the micro world. From the updated quality of life data and follow-up survival outcomes, the efficacy of Siweixiaoliuyin in the treatment of glioma is significant. However,it is still necessary to improve the prescription according to the dynamic changes of the disease, and further explore the optimal treatment plan combined with modern medicine.
