Objective: To evaluate the clinical effects in the treatment of chronic periodont itis with SRP alone or assisted with photodynamic therapy and diode laser. To explore their value in nonsurgical therapy of chronic periodontitis. Methods: A BIBD trial was conducted in 60 patients infecting chronic periodontitis.120 bilateral area tooth(PD?5mm)was chosen randomly into three groups A,B,C,standing for therapy for periodontal disease namely SRP,SRP with twice auxiliary photodynamic therapy and SRP with twice auxiliary diode laser. The amounts of IL-1?,b FGF in gingival crevicular fluid were measured by ELISA.Periodontal parameters of PD,CAL,BOP,as well as gingival crevicular fluid humoral factor amounts were evaluated at baseline,2 wk after SRP,2wk and 12 wk after conducting PDT or DL.Results: Periodontal condition improves significantly after SRP with or without plus PDT or DL.Comparing to baseline, all groups showed significant improvement in PD,CAL and BI(P<0.01);No significant differences were showed among groups.BI reduces increasingly in group B and C after 2 weeks of conducting PDT/DL(P<0.05).BFGF levels in GCF increase significantly after the treatment(P<0.05).However the levels of IL-1? decrease significant. No significant differences were showed among groups. Conclusion: In the treatment of Chronic periodontitis SRP with or without PDT or DL may control inflammation effectively.PDT or DL adjunctive to conventional SRP decrease the presence of bleeding better which may suggest that DL or PAD could serve as an adjunct to SRP.
