Objectives To understand the resilience and quality of life of the poverty-stricken older adults supported centrally in rural areas of Anhui Province,and to analyze the correlation between resilience and quality of life of the poverty-stricken older adults who are supported centrally in rural areas,so as to provide scientific basis for improving the quality of life of the poverty-stricken older adults supported centrally in rural areas.Methods A cluster sampling method was used to select 2 older adults care institutions each city willing to participate in the survey in 16 cities of Anhui Province.In this study,all 1427 poverty-stricken older adults in the institutions were investigated with Connor-Davidson resilience scale and 36-item short form health survey,and 1105 valid questionnaires were collected.The effective response rate was 77.44%.Data were recorded in pairs by Epi Data3.1 software,and SPSS16.0 was used for descriptive statistical analysis,Pearson correlation analysis,single-factor and multiple-factor linear regression analysis,and the test level was 0.05.Results(1)Basic information on the respondents: the majority of the respondents were male(91.40%),nearly half of them were aged 70~79(47.09%),most of them had no religious belief(91.03%)and most of them were illiterate(74.12%),more than half of them had stayed in the care institutions for more than five years(58.76%).(2)Health status: The top three chronic diseases were hypertension(41.10%),stroke(15.30%)and heart disease(14.29%);the vast majority(85.46%)were in tertiary care;about 40%(42.24%)were completely independent,an ADL score of 100.(3)Social contact:Nearly half of the respondents(45.36%)said their relatives visited them more than once every three months.(4)Resilience: The average item score of resilience was(1.44±0.54),tenacity score was(1.36±0.51),optimism score was(1.58±0.71)and self-strengthening score was(1.52±0.62).(5)Quality of life: The quality of life average item score was(15.05±3.85),in which the lowest score was(6.59±2.46)Physical Functioning(PF)and the highest score was(46.22±9.74)Social Functional(SF).(6)Pearson Correlation Analysis showed that the total score of resilience was positively correlated with the total score of quality of Life(r=0.150,P<0.01),the scores of resilience(tenacity,self-strengthening,optimism)were positively correlated with the total scores of quality of life(P<0.01,r=0.124,r=0.162,r=0.118).(7)The results of linear regression analysis of single factor and multiple factors showed that: the effects of resilience on quality of life were statistically significant(P<0.05),resilience has a positive effect on the quality of life.Conclusions and suggestions(1)The level of resilience of the poverty-stricken older adults in rural areas needs to be improved.The old-age service organizations should attach importance to spiritual support and carry out diversified activities,and the government should attach importance to the construction of old-age service centers.(2)The quality of life of the poverty-stricken older adults in rural areas needs to be improved.The old-age service center should strengthen the construction of professional personnel and push forward the new mode of medical integration.(3)There is a positive correlation between the resilience and the quality of life of the poverty-stricken older adults supported centrally in rural areas.With the improvement of resilience,the quality of life also improves.
