Study On Treatment Of Simple Obesity By Acupoint Catgut Embedding

Objective:This study investigated the clinical efficacy and safety of acupoint catgut embedding therapy in the treatment of simple obesity.All the contention issues were objectively evaluated by randomized controlled clinical trials,and the clinical value and generalization of acupoint catgut embedding therapy were discussed.Method:Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria,a total of 64 cases of paticipant with simple obesity were collected.During the research,the method of stochastic numerical table was adopted to divide the participants into 32 cases as acupoint catgut embedding therapy group(or Group 1)and 32 cases as conventional acupuncture therapy group(or Group 2).Obese patients in both groups had their same acupoints,namely Zhongwan(Ren-12),Tianshu(St-25)on both sides,Guanyuan(BI-26),Qihai(BI-24),Quchi(LI-11)on both sides and Zusanli(St-36)on both sides,applied with the respective therapy to compare their clinical efficacy.Group 1 went through two consecutive courses of treatment,with each course containing one treatment of the therapy and to be applied in every two weeks.Group 2 went through 1 course of treatment,with each course containing 10 treatments of the therapy and applied 3 times a week.At the same time node,their clinical efficacy,life quality,and treatment safety was measured by patients' weights,BMI,waist,hip and femoral circumference,as well as SF-36(quality of life scale),PSQI(Pittsburg sleep quality index),SAS(anxiety self-rating scale),SDS(depression self-rating scale).Results : 1)Baseline data : the study found there is no statistically significant difference between the two groups,gender,age,height distribution and pretreatment weight,as well as other norms including BMI,waist,hip and femoral circumference,and SF-36(quality of life scale),PSQI(Pittsburg sleep quality index),SAS(anxiety self-rating scale),SDS(depression self-rating scale)scores.Therefore,it can be considered that the baseline data of the two patient groups before treatment and observation are fairly comparable.(P>0.05)2)Intra-group comparison:after treamet,both groups,pateints found notable drop in scores of weight,BMI,waist,hip and femoral circumference,and SF-36(quality of life scale),PSQI(Pittsburg sleep quality index),SAS(anxiety selfrating scale),SDS(depression self-rating scale).Because of after-treatment result performed better than previous body condition,the study surely has statistical significance.(P<0.05)3)Comparison among groups:there was no significant difference in the scores of weight,BMI,waist,hip and femoral circumference,and SF-36,PSQI,SAS and SDS in patients with simple obesity before and after treatment.It shows that there is no statistically significant difference between two selected groups.(P>0.05)4)Total effective rate : The total efficiency of body weight and BMI was compared between the two groups after the treatment ended in one-month period.(1)Effectiveness of body weight value : the total effective rate for acupoint catgut embedding therapy group reached 93.75%,and the total effective rate for conventional acupuncture therapy group amounted to 87.5%.(2)Effectiveness rate for BMI:the total effective rate for acupoint catgut embedding therapy group was 96.88%,and the total effective rate of conventional acupuncture therapy group was 93.75%.Conclusion:1)Acupoint catgut embedding therapy and conventional acupuncture therapyare effective in the treatment of simple obesity patients,both methods can improve the clinical signs of patients with simple obesity,improve their life quality.2)Acupoint catgut Embedding therapy and conventional acupuncture therapy are safe and effective in the treatment of patients with simple obesity,and it is worth popularizing in clinical application.
