Study On Domestic Workshop-themed TV Plays From The Perspective Of Semiotics

In recent years,TV series reflecting and showing handicraft industry and handicraft workmen have frequently sprung up on domestic TV screen,and are widely received by TV viewers.Under the overall trend of the great boom and tremendous development of television art,Big Dye-works,Purple Jade Gold Sand,Phoenix in Peony Flowers,The Head,The Children of River and other domestic workshop TV series hit on the screen,not only enlivening the television art,but also providing new research objects and topics for academia.As a kind of new TV series,domestic workshop TV series(hereinafter referred to as "workshop drama"),because of its unique materials about people's livelihood,heavy appearance,strong symbolic features and other characteristics,were long-term welcomed by the majority of TV viewers.However,the research on these TV series cannot keep up with their development,and even lags far behind.The author thinks that,taking the "workshop drama" as a unique TV series type for research,especially observing and analyzing it in the perspective of semiotics,will not only have its theoretical value,but also practical significance.After entering the new century,although mixing good and bad in terms of quality,the creation and production of "workshop drama" still show the tendency of high yield,huge influence and investors flocking.The author researches workshop drama in the perspective of semiotics,and finds that the workshop drama uses Chinese traditional arts and crafts culture symbol,combines objects with images of traditional handicraft culture through the encoding and decoding process of audio and visual symbols,better to complete the construction of workshop drama's symbol language.Having a detailed case analysis to the typical workshop drama text,the author sums up the unique artistic features of workshop drama in the generation and propagation of symbol culture:by modeling the legendary hero image of handicraft workman,tied the personal fate,traditional craftsmanship and the national rise and fall together,workshop drama has a narrative of "family and country isomorphism",Transferring the attention of the characters' gender also shows the ideological progress of workshop drama.Workshop-themed TV plays promote traditional culture and national spirit,and have reached a high level in artistry and thought.Through researching,the author finds that the workshop drama has the following remarkable achievements:promoting and enriching Chinese Excellent traditional culture,creating national symbols and styles of TV series,praising ethics and values established by workmen through thousands of years,spreading national spirit of self-discipline and social commitment.At the same time,some outstanding problems of workshop drama can not be underestimated,such as too entertainment,homogeneity,plot holes,farfetched characterization,and single pattern making these maladies prevent the long-term development of workshop drama.Therefore,workshop-themed TV plays should change their symbol subject matters,perfect the symbol construction and strengthen the responsibility of producers so as to break through predicaments and achieve long-term development.The author conducts a systematically research on domestic workshop drama in the perspective of semiotics,in hope of providing a little contribution to the good,orderly and sustainable development of the workshop drama.
