This article is a translation practice report. The original text of the project is extracted from an original English book—Global Warming for Dummies, which is recommended by the Foreign Languages College of Hainan University to all its MTI students. The translator selects the first two chapters of Part V(Solving the Problem)in this book as the translation practice project.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, put forward by Hans Vermeer, the translator finishes the translation process with the help of various translation methods.Global warming is the biggest environmental problem faced by mankind, and it attracts extensive attention worldwide. The main cause of global warming is that for nearly a century, human society uses a large amount of fossil fuels, emitting a great quantity of greenhouse gases. The selected chapters 13 and 14,the most difficult part to translate, talk about solving the problems from alternative energy as well as business and industrial solutions respectively. This report is divided into six parts—introduction to the project, previous preparations for the project, the guiding theory of translation, process of the project translation, translation methods and case analysis as well as conclusion of the project. With the goal of summarizing the translation project, the translator underlines some major difficulties met in the process of translation and presents their relevant solutions as well, hoping it can serve as a reference for the translation of the same kind of texts.
