Climate change has been a globally hot topic ever since the end of the 20thcentury.All governments in the world are seeking for solutions to tackle global warming, promoting frequent communications and cooperation on ecology and environment.Ecological environment texts are boasting a wider and more extensive market. This project report is based on the translation of three selected chapters of Global Warming Trends:Ecological Footprints, which is defined as a scientific and technical text discussing the causes and effects of paleoclimate change as well as an overall outlook to cope with global warming.Firstly,a brief introduction and analysis to the background and stylistic features of the source text is demonstrated. Then it discusses difficulties the author met during translation and their relevant solutions. The main difficulties fall into three parts:translation of terminologies and polysemous words, translation of courses with semantic obscureness and translation of complex sentences. The author proposes relevant translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory. In the end,a conclusion listing some insufficiency and suggestions is given in the report, aiming to provide reference for other kinds of translations of scientific and technical texts.
