This is a translation project report on the fourth chapter of China Goes Global: The Partial Power written by David Shambaugh, who is a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University. In this book, the author elaborates how China’s development influences the world in respect of Chinese diplomacy, global governance, economy, culture and security. The fourth chapter deals with China and global governance, with a review of China’s road to global governance and explanation of China’s involvement in global governance relating to UN, arms control, public health and global environment. The project report consists of five chapters. The first chapter begins with general information about this translation project, including the background, targets, and significance of the project. In the second chapter, an analysis of original text is given, including introductions to the author and to the original text as well as text type and language style of the original text. The third chapter is about the theory guiding this translation project--Skopos Theory. In the fourth chapter, difficulties encountered in the process of translation are solved with translation methods that are discussed with specific examples. The last chapter is about the summary of the translation project, with what has been learnt from this project and remaining problems.
