A Practice Report On Simulation Interpreting Of Yang Lan One On One With Director Tsui Hark And Xu Zheng

The hostess Yang Lan's personal style and unique viewpoint make great contributions to the successful show in that the smooth development of topics penetrates into the inner world of the guests.With the rapid development of China's economy and the expanding globalization,an increasingly number of foreigners know about China from mass media.As a global commonly used language,English is becoming an important communication tool in media for cultural exchange.However,due to the differences in culture and thinking mode between eastern and western countries,it is definitely not easy for the interpreter in the face of culture and thinking differences as well as interpretation challenges.Consequently,a qualified interpreter should make a profound research on the interpreting theory and techniques based on the practical experience.This simulation interpreting practice report is written under the guidelines of Skopostheory,linking theory with practice.There are five parts in this thesis.It begins with a brief introduction on Yang Lan One on One including the language features and topic range of talk shows.The second part is the description of the preparation work before interpreting including the preparation of background information,vocabulary and interpreting theory.In the third part,the author analyzes case study under the theory of Skopostheory,adopt interpreting strategies such as domestication,alienation,omission and supplement in the consecutive interpreting.The fourth part assesses the interpretation by reviewing the recordings.The author repeatedly listens the recording and check her notes,analyzes the cases of the mistakes and difficulties during the process.The last part is conclusion.The author concludes this consecutive interpreting practice and describes qualities that an interpreter should possess in interpretation.The qualities are good listening and comprehension as well as fluent expression in both source and target languages and good psychological quality.
