A Report On Interpreting The Talk Show Yang Lan One On One: Gong Li Is Coming Back

Nowadays,interview interpreting,as an effective communicative means,is gaining its popularity.Because of the differences in language,culture and thinking modes between Chinese and Western as well as the characteristics of interview programs,the interpreter is facing great challenges of how to accurately convey the program information and enable the foreign audiences to understand it as Chinese do.The Skopos Theory points out every translational activity has its intended purpose,and“the end justifies the means”(Nord 29).The author,guided by the Skopos Theory,chooses two interviews with Gong Li in May,2014 from Yang Lan One on One as consecutive interpretation practice.Then the author analyzes the factors affecting the interpreting result during this process,i.e.the speaker,the interpreter and the listener,and puts forward interpretation strategies accordingly.This report is divided into four parts.The first is task description,simply introducing topic source,features of interview program and simulated audiences.The second is process description,including preparations before interpreting,process and analysis of interpreting,and quality evaluation of interpreting.The third is case analysis,analyzing factors affecting interpreting result,introducing application of Skopos Theory to interview interpreting and proposing interpreting strategies.The last is conclusion,indicating the experience,lessons and limitation of this report and expecting to provide some reference for other interpreting learners.
