The Interpreting Strategies In Consecutive Interpretation From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

In today’s globalized world,countries are more interdependent and interconnected than at anytime in history and it is especially true when it comes to global problems.Researchers from different countries and regions seek for solution through international research and cooperation.In the project “Nature-based Innovation”(NBI),proposed by Environment Agency of European Union,the author is in charge of the interview interpreter.The paper is finished based on the guidance of Interpretive Theory and interview transcription of NBI.The Interpretive Theory puts forward the Translation Process for interpreting:Understanding—Deverbalization—Expression.Under this theory,interpreter is required to completely understand the meaning of the source language,break the limit of linguistic form and accurately express the meaning that the source language intends to delivery.In the process of interview interpreting,the colloquial expression,obscure logical relationship and unclear pronoun that may often refer to several items place a big burden on interpreters.To this end,author strives to focus more on language meaning rather than linguistic form based on the principle of accuracy,in order to reach the equivalence in meaning between two languages and to make the interview more efficient.The report includes four chapters: the first Chapter is the Introduction of Research,which analyzes the characteristics of interview interpreting and its interpreting principles;the second Chapter is the Description of Interpreting Process,including the interpreting preparation and the challenges occurred during interpreting,which gives emphasis on the importance of following the Interpreting Theory;the third Chapter is the Interpreting Methods of Interpretive Theory,focusing on the Interpreting Process—“understanding—deverbalization—expression”;the last Chapter is the Interpreting Strategy based on the Interpretive Theory,in which the author combines the theory and cases and proposes five strategies based on the practice of Interpreting Process.Through the practice of interview interpreting and the report,the author has better understanding to interpretive theory and hopes that the experience could make contribution to interpreting work in the same field.
