A Report On The Translation Of Exploring Translation Theories(Chapter Six)

This is a translation report on the translation of Chapter Six-Uncertainty,an excerpt from Exploring Translation Theories,which presents a comprehensive analysis of the key traditional and contemporary paradigms of translation theory and which was composed by Anthony Pym,a Professor of Translation and Intercultural Studies.Chapter Six,namely Uncertainty,expresses that we can never be entirely sure of the meanings that we translate.My respectful and professional supervisor has kindly introduced this book to me and offered me the photocopy of it.This translation report consists of four chapters:introduction,source text analysis,difficulties and solutions as well as conclusions,followed with the appendix of the source text and its translated version.Chapter one comprises the goal and significance of the project as well as the organization of this report.Chapter two is about the text and the author.Chapter three consists of pre-translation as well as difficulties and solutions during the translation process.Chapter four presents lessons and inspirations learned from the translation process and also the unsolved problems.To sum up,this translation report outlines difficulties during the translation process and provides some feasible and practical solutions,which are hoped to be some references for the future versions of this kind of text.
