A Discussion On The Innovation Of Documentary Audio-visual Language In China Since The 80's

Documentary,such unique form of image recorded history,carrying the vicissitude of social life,has a deep flavor of the times.Based on scene-by-scene style statistical data analysis on series of reshooting documentary,including "Silk Road","New Silk Road","Story of the Yangtze River","Rediscovering the Yangtze River",and series of Chinese and foreign documentaries,such as "Odyssey of The Great Wall" and "Great Wall",this article explores the transformation of audio-visual language in domestic documentaries since the 80 's,and tried to establish the prospects for documentary audio-visual language during present time,the time of marketization.In this paper,literature research and quantitative research methods are used to put three sets of representative documentaries together for study and thoroughly investigate the changes of audio-visual language in domestic documentaries through reshoot of the same object to summarize some meaningful results.This paper sorts out the newer historical context of contemporary documentary concept,and thereby obtain the impetus for audio-visual language from conception renewal.Combined with cases,the third part mainly analyzes the development status of audio-visual language in domestic documentaries,which is,tempered by time,it transformed from lacking information from the lens,filling strong arbitrary in motion shots and abusing tag-along style long shot into presenting more rigorous in handling lens fragmentation and application of motion shots as well as demonstrating details with little scene lens and the use of "paraded" nowadays.The fourth part depicts the development course of visual language in domestic documentaries,changing from the domination of narration over screen in the 80 s to focusing on the application of soundbite during the period of commercialization and such.The Epilogue concluded the paper by summing up the overall characteristics and performance of the development of the audio-visual language of domestic documentaries,affirmed the significance of these changes and thereby had an outlook of audio-visual language in domestic documentaries in the future.
