The Audio-visual Language Study Of Ecological Documentary

With the development of science and technology, modern civilization is changing theexisting state and physiognomy of human society. However, due to overexploitation of nature, aseries of ecological issues are hiden behind the dramatic advances in material civilization.Therefore, when the ecological problems are becoming more and more serious nowadays, everydocumentary filmmaker is duty-bound to spread the concept of ecological and environmentalprotection through the way of ecological documentary. The eco-documentary causes audiences’attention to the ecological and environmental problems by means of showing nature’s true color,reality and beauty and the ecological environment is on the verge of collapse so that it couldappeal people to protect the nature environment and maintain the ecological balance.Audio-visual language system, is external manifestation of ecological documentary. As avideo communication means, ecological documentary represent its function of publicity andmoralization by the way of audio-visual language. In this article, we extract some excellent casessuch as "the heaven, the earth and the people" trilogy,"Wild China" and "Forest China" etc.,based on the deep analysis of components and performance characteristics in audio-visuallanguage, summarized the eco-documentary audio-visual language’s features and expressingmeanings, finally expressed the deep connotation performance of the eco-documentary. Thearticle aimed at providing some theoretical basis and references for Chinese ecologicaldocumentaries’ creation and study.The thesis is made up of four parts. The first part focuses on the main concept ofecological documentary, and thorough analysis and statements of the ecological documentary ’stype and development. The second and the third parts are combined with some classiceco-documentary cases from home and abroad, deeply analyzed and discussed the essentialcomponents and performance characteristics of the ecological documentary’s visual and audiolanguage in detail respectively. And based on the above, the last part deeply summarizes andconcludes the performance characteristics and functions of the ecological documentary’saudio-visual language.
