China has increasing demands for inter-cultural communication with other countries.As China's influence continues to grow in Asia and beyond,increasing documentaries have been produced to tell about Chinese civilization and history.It explores a new filed of cultural transmission for interpreters.In this report,the author analyzes the documentary interpretation.This report is the summary and analysis of the author's interpreting practice of Silk Roads and China Ships from BBC documentary series The Story of China.In this report,the author analyzes the language features and interpreting requirements of historical documentary.The report contains the task description which analyzes the task requirements,interpreting process which introduces three stages of interpreting work,as well as difficulties during this interpreting practice.The report gives a brief introduction about Silk Roads and China Ships,analyzes task's features and requirements,describes the interpreting process from the aspects of before interpreting,while interpreting and after interpreting,explains the interpreting strategies of the cases under the guidance of Lederer's interpretative approach,and concludes the problems and difficulties in the interpreting process.The report aims to summarize coping strategies of the historical documentary and gives reflections and implications for future study of documentary interpreting.
