| The Interpretative Approach, also called "The Theory of Sense ", appearedon the stage in France in the late1960s. It is aimed at investigating theprinciples and teaching of interpretation and non-literary text translation. TheInterpretative Approach distinguishes itself greatly from the Linguists, for theformer regards the process of translation as that of interpretation; during thisprocess, translators explain and analyze language symbols as well as offertranslation to the original meaning of the text through their cognitivecomplements. Translators should pursue the equivalence on original meaningor effect rather than on the equivalence of language units: This point of view isquite different from that of linguistics. The theory directly originates frominterpreting practice, and its view has a unique revelation for translation studiesSimultaneous Interpretation includes many forms to which TVSimultaneous Interpretation belongs. It is mainly used in the television directtransmission of major international events, conferences or unexpectedemergencies. It is a kind of translation practice, which uses another kind oflanguage to restate precisely and perfectly the thoughts and feelings uttered inthe original language with the same speed of the speaker. This paper takes the TV Simultaneous interpretation as an example; itintroduces and studies the interpretative approach and its application in Russiansimultaneous interpretation. There are altogether three chapters in this articleexcept the introduction. The introduction mainly introduces the basic situationof the interpretative approach as well as its current research and developmentat home and abroad and the shortage of the study on the Russian simultaneousinterpreting in our country at present. At the end of the introduction, it statesthe research approaches of this article. In the first chapter, it chiefly explains the basic theory of Interpretative Approach, including three aspects. First, interpretation is a kind of communicative behavior. Second, the object ofinterpretation exists in meaning rather than in language itself. Third, threefactors, namely interpreters cognitive complements, the hypothesis of de-verbalization together with the triangle model of the interpretation process, allhave great influence on the understanding of meaning. Because of the directeffect on the quality of interpreters translation activities, the last part is themost important. In the second chapter I discuss the application of interpretativeapproach in Russian simultaneous interpretation with the TV simultaneousinterpretation as an example. In this chapter, I first analyze the definition ofSimultaneous Interpretation and briefly introduce and summarize major pointsof the TV Simultaneous Interpretation. Finally I discuss the application ofinterpretative approach in Russian TV simultaneous interpretation. Thereextend two small branches in this part. In the first part I discuss how aninterpreter makes appropriate increase or decrease according to the speech, theother part discusses how an interpreter deverbalizes and translates freely on thepremise of guarantee the quality of translation in the TV simultaneousinterpretation and on the basis of the practice of cognitive knowledge. The lastchapter employs specific examples to discuss the limitations and shortcomingsof Interpretative Approach in order to perfect interpretative approach in thefuture study and practice. |
