Application And Exploration Of Negative Space In Book Design

Book design,as a multi-dimensional design,is moving towards a new stage of development.No matter what the information carrier is,the main purpose of the book design is always be making the book with visual esthetics and profound connotation.In terms of the current books design research,the scholars often focus on the positive space with the function of information transferring.In contrast,scholars studying less in negative space of book design.But the role of negative space in books design is very important,as my opinion.The negative space of book design is not simply has the function of carrying all the design elements,it also built the temperament and atmosphere of the whole book,participate in guiding the visual process.As well as,constructing the unique artistic conception between books and readers.Only when the positive space and negative space supplement each other,the whole book can better reflect its own value and connotation.The paper mainly based on the perspective of the concept of negative space and its theory.And then explore the application of the layout,page structure,and overall form of book design specifically and deeply.The research purpose is to discuss how to make books more readable,aesthetic,and creative in the new era of development,and let the readers get a better reading experience from book design.
