Reading teaching is one of the important contents of junior high school English teaching,and the key to teaching is to cultivate students' reading ability.The new curriculum standard advocates the application of task-based teaching method(TBTM)in junior high school English reading teaching.At the same time,as a modern teaching aids,multimedia has basically entered our junior high school English classroom.Compared with the traditional teaching mode,the multimedia-assisted task-based reading teaching has attracted the attention of the academic community,and researches have been carried out.The researches on the integration of multimedia into task-based teaching have not only the results that can be used for reference,but also a series of problems.This study attempts to understand the current situation of multimedia-assisted task-based reading teaching in junior high school through investigation.This paper analyses the students' attitudes towards the application of TBTM assisted by multimedia in reading teaching and the problems they encounter in task-based teaching;analyses teachers' understanding and application of task-based language teaching(TBLT)and the use of multimedia in reading classroom teaching.This paper finds out the problems and difficulties of multimedia-assisted task-based reading teaching,and then puts forward relevant suggestions,hoping to reduce the resistance for the implementation of multimedia-assisted task-based reading teaching.The specific research questions are as follows:1.What is the implementation process of English task-based reading teaching in junior high school assisted by multimedia?2.What is the application situation of multimedia in English task-based reading teaching in junior high school?3.What are the attitudes of students and teachers towards multimedia-assisted English task-based reading teaching in junior high school?The subjects of this study are two parallel classes in Grade 2 and 18 English teachers from a junior high school in Jinan.Classroom observation,case analysis,questionnaire survey and interview were used to conduct the research.The results of classroom observation show that multimedia is not used properly in reading class,and there are problems in task design,organization and evaluation.Questionnaires and interviews show that most teachers often use TBTM in reading teaching and use multimedia to stimulate students' interest,but at the same time,they also believe that the application of multimedia in task-based reading teaching will consume a certain amount of time,increase the amount of lesson preparation,etc.Most studentscan realize the importance of English reading learning and think that multimedia-assisted TBTM is helpful to the comprehension of reading materials.But students are not optimistic about the mastery and application of reading skills and strategies,and think that task design is beyond their language ability,multimedia playing time is too long,etc.After specific analysis,the suggestions are given as follows.For Teachers,they should strengthen the professional training,and update their educational concepts constantly;make full use of multimedia aided teaching means,and do a good job in the task setting of reading classroom teaching,etc.For students,they can creatively participate in reading learning by completing tasks,and use multimedia to integrate English cultural background,etc.
