Presentation And Application Of A More Dynamic Approach To Translation Criticism

This thesis seeks to present a somewhat more refined and dynamic approach to translation criticism than what currently exists in the literature,and which can more reliably promote the accuracy and efficacy of a given translation.This new method will then be shown in practice by analyzing the quality and effectiveness of Wu Guozhen's translation of the Analects of Confucius in comparison to other authoritative and relevant translations of said source material.In my evaluation of Wu's text,I will constructively provide suggested improvements and alternatives to Wu's translations in an effort to help improve future editions of the text and further provide my own small contribution to the advancement of translation and translation criticism studies.One of the main arguments of this thesis is that in order for any model of translation criticism to be effective,it must be able to adapt to the different standards of translation that exist for different types of source materials.
