A Study Of Yunnan's Insurance Industry In Republic Of China(1913-1949)

Yunnan insurance industry originated in from the opening of BiseZhai section of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway in 1909.It experienced such a process of double ups anddowns,which was from the scratch to the break,and then from the interrupt to prosperity,and declined to stagnation at last.It was the beginning of Yunnan's modern insurance when Yunnan-Vietnam Railway opened in the first decade.After then,It was nearly 20 years until the eve of Anti-Japanese War,Yunnan insurance industry was basically in a stagnant stage.During the war of resistance against Japan,as the Nationalist government moved westward,Kunming,the capital of Yunnan Province,became one of the centers of rear area of Anti-Japanese War.Meanwhile,many industrial enterprises were located in Kunming.During the period,Yunnan's insurance took this opportunity to usher in a period of great development.However,this prosperity didn't continue.At the end of the war,with the return of industrial and commercial enterprises,Yunnan insurance industry soon fell down.Throughout the development of Yunnan's insurance industry during the period of the Republic of China,the development of each stage has its corresponding background,and the political,socio-economic and other factors have had more or less influence on the insurance industry in Yunnan.This paper is comprised of four chapters to discuss Yunnan's insurance in Republic of China.The first chapter tells the rise of the insurance industry in Yunnan during the period of the Republic of China.It mainly introduces the background and the beginning of its rise.The second chapter focuses on the development of the insurance industry in Yunnan during the Anti-Japanese War,including the Yunnan insurance institutions,the establishment of Yunnan's own insurance business,insurance services,FuDian Insurance Company and other local insurance institutions.The third chapter mainly inspects the supervision from the government and the insurance industry itself;The fourth chapter makes a overall assessment about Yunnan's insurance industry in Republic of China,which is based on the former three chapters.The part of conclusion puts forward some thoughts on the present development situation of our country's insurance industry so as to provide reference for our country's present insurance industry developing healthily and orderly.
