Japan’s Cultural Diplomacy Towards Asean After The Cold War

With the continuous development of human civilization,cultural diplomacy gradually appear in the international stage to become an important way for foreign exchanges.Relative to the political,economic,military and other hard power diplomacy,cultural diplomacy does not seem to be an immediate solution to some problems,but in the long run,it can play a hard power diplomacy that can not play the role which it is silence,subtle influenced the impact of other countries from the national system,political system,moral ethics,ideology and culture,values,lifestyles.and other metaphysical spiritual and cultural aspects.And this is far more than through the coercion,threat,war,etc that other countries on their own country worship and only horse have more obvious utility and influence.Especially in today’s society,culture has developed into an economic chain which can create economic interests that develop the cultural industry vigorously and continue to carry out foreign cultural diplomacy has a very profound international and domestic significance.This paper first briefly introduces the relevant theoretical concepts of cultural diplomacy that laying a theoretical foundation for the whole text;fllowed by the end of the Cold War,the reasons for Japan to take measures to carry out cultural and diplomatic activities on the ASEAN countries about the domestic and international level of the specific analysis;and then the Japan on the ASEAN to carry out cultural diplomacy related institutions,the main way,showing the characteristics were discussed separately with the overall induction;on this basis,combined with the actual,the overall effectiveness of the cultural diplomacy between Japan and ASEAN were analyzed which including the results achieved by Japan and ASEAN in this process and the defects of Japanese Cultural Diplomacy and the consequences.Through this study,we can easily find that after the Cold War,Japan’s cultural diplomacy towards ASEAN was a success.Japan’s national interests gained through cultural diplomacy far outweigh the traditional diplomacy of politics,economy and so on,so that achieved its cultural diplomacy goal to a certain extent,such as the rapid transformation of the international image,the recovery of economic conditions and the realization of regional goals which can be described as multiple purposes.Pursuit of reasons,combined with the international and domestic situation to rapidly change the country’s foreign strategy is on the one hand;the country have excellent cultural soft power can be described as more important on the other hand.Japanese culture has become popular in Southeast Asia,and as a congenital cultural gene is not very good country,it can create a remarkable new culture that is worthy of our in-depth thinking.China has a long cultural history and rich cultural resources,but it does not have the core of cultural competitiveness,which is very unfavorable in the future international competition so that to adjust the national cultural foreign policy and strengthen cultural exchanges may be the topic that should be caused more attention in the future.
