| The Derung nationality,a minority whose population is the one of fewest and localities is the most densest in China,are mostly settling in Derung River township,Gongshan County,Yunnan Province.For a long time,the Derung nationality are under a comparatively closer environment all through,separated by fountains and rivers,therefore the nationality was barely influenced by the outside.Since the 21st century,attributing to a series of supportive policies China Communist Party made,the Derung nationality are facing an overwhelming change of their unique culture,such as highway traffic and a new style of house,which inevitably bring a thorough social change to this people.Briefly,in the 21th century,the developments and changes of the Derung nationality had totally transformed themselves.Before the founding of the People's Republic of China,the social formation of Derung nationality,with lower productivity,remained in late primitive society.In order to improve their tough lives,the new people's government directly gives basic means of livelihood out to them.Even the living standard of the Derung nationality had been elevated partly,after the post road was finished,however,the economic development of Derung River territory was very slow because of primitive methods of transportation,until Derung River Highway was opened to traffic in 1999,which ena bled this people's lives to be better then ever.After the year 2000,with the authority implementing the policies of Returning Farmland to Forests and Improving Lives of All People in Entire Village,the Derung nationality received the houses and foods supported by the local administration,meanwhile the completion of Derung River Tunnel in 2014 declared the end of the period that the territory was closed up with heavy snow.Nowadays,Derung River territory has come to a thriving new age of progress again.A series of dramatic changes and developments,with the government's strong assistances,in Derung nationality's economy,culture and education enabled their traditional culture to be influenced by the kind of culture change.In short,what the paper intend to analyze the changes of Derung nationality's material life and customs by the aspect of the development of Derung nationality in 21th century.Considering their actual condition of social development,the improvement of transportation and the construction of infrastructures in this area play important role in the social change in Derung River territory.This thesis,based on the theories of social change,further researches the changes of Derung nationality's production,living and livelihood by means of cases that observe the developments and changes of the aspects of Derung nationality's communication,structures,costumes and diets,and intends to reveal the approach Derung nationality adapts modern civilization and the direction of their future.That a series of transformations Derung nationality experienced is a radical change that most minorities in China experienced when they received exotic cultures is valuable to the academic studies:form initial unaccustomedness to adaption,and further cultural self-consciousness,which requires this people's independent activities more than the authority's proper guidance to harmonize reserving their own traditional cultures and blending in with modern civilization of China.The thesis concentrates on researching Derung nationality's folk life,discussing the reservations and the changes,and seeking the balance between reservations and changes.Generally,the constant improvement of Derung nationality's material folk-life and is not only suitable for their requirement to development,as well as an advantage for the progress for the nationality.At present,the people of Derung nationality are attempting to integrate their traditional culture and modern civilization,to find out the most suitable approach to develop their nationality,to improve living condition and standard,and to elevate the sense of happiness eventually. |
