Political texts,as an argumentative writing, are aimed at analyzing social issues from the political standpoint. They not only deliver a nation's policies, but also represent its ideology. With the further acceleration of economic globalization and the frequent communication between countries, the translation of political texts plays a more significant role in learning about the political institution, policies and principles of one country and facilitating cooperation among countries. As political texts are concerned with political views, translators, when facing those texts, should adopt the exact wording to express clearly what the original texts is implying in order to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.Since the 21 st century, most countries in the world have achieved rapid economic development but at the considerable cost of destroying the ecological environment. As the evolution of human society largely depends on its good ecological settings, countries around the world have focused their attention on how to make economic advancement while protecting the environment.Against the backdrop, the original text of this translation report is selected from the Chapter 6 of Marxism in the Twenty-first Century, which introduces the reasons of the capitalist ecological crisis based on principles of Marxism and the development history of Marxist ecology to call for people to protect ecology while developing economy. This translation report, based on the differences between Chinese and English languages, analyzes the characters of political texts in terms of word choice and discuses methods in the translation of terminology, common nouns and prepositions. The report is composed of four parts: chapter one is the introduction, including the background, objective and significance of this project;chapter two mainly expounds the content and lexical characteristics of the original text;chapter three, the core part of this report, elaborates the specific translation methods of terminology, common nouns and prepositions by giving examples;chapter four is the conclusion, consisting of translational experience gained from this project and problems to be dealt with.
