For over seventy years after the first general-purpose computer was invented, computer graphics technology has been advancing on a massive scale.Computers are no longer the giant calculators;they are playing a more and more substantial role in entertaining their users through video game software, the Internet and so on.Thanks to globalization, the booming international market has resulted in the increasing number of video games which support multiple languages, therefore generating hugelocalization demand. The successful localization of video game software will help gamers comprehend the original game better while not breaking much of the culture implication, which will further contributeto its market share. This review focuses on the verbal translation within 3DM's localization project of Total War: Rome II.Chapter One summarizes the concept of localization and its impact on the video game industry, while Chapter Two generally introduces Total War: Rome II and the characteristics of the texts.Analyzing the translation,Chapter Three puts forward several translation strategies and methods in light of the context, whilesome preliminaryconclusions are drawn in the last chapter.
