An Analysis Of Cohesion And Coherence In The Translation

This thesis is to discuss cohesion and coherence in academic thesis translation.Cohesion and coherence are important subjects of research in discourse analysis.Academic thesis is characterized by professionalism,originality and authenticity whose target readers,among others,are linguistic experts and colleges students,while the coherence is still one of the translation criteria.From the perspective of discourse analysis,this thesis is to study the cohesion of Chinese and English,the role that cohesion has played in achieving coherence,as well as translation strategies adopted in achieving coherence.Basing on the practical material-the translation of Legislation As Communication? Legal Interpretation and the Study of Linguistic Communication,this thesis is to indicate that translators should pay attention to the cohesion of academic thesis.Through the research of cohesion are the translators able to save cognitive efforts to figure out what the thesis is about.Meanwhile,this thesis tries to show that translators should adopt different translation skills to achieve semantic coherence.
