Analysis Of Errors In Translation From The Perspective Of The Translation Units

The thesis is a translation report based on chapter four of the book America's New Democracy.Guided by translation units theory,it aims to analyze typical errors in the translation and summarizes reasons of mistranslation as well as strategies to avoid it.This paper is composed of four parts.The first part is a brief introduction to the translation project and the book America's New Democracy,including its content and language style.Current studies about translation units theory and mistranslation are explained in the second part.And then,the author analyzes the mistranslation examples from the perspectives of phoneme,morpheme,word,phrase,clause and sentence,which is followed by a conclusion about the reasons and strategies of mistranslation.Lastly,enlightenments about the translation practice are summarized.Through analyzing the exact mistranslation examples,the author finds that the translation unit is always changing dynamically.When dealing with a coherent passage,the translator needs to choose the appropriate translation unit carefully in accordance with the characteristics of different translation units.
