Daily practices of simultaneous interpretation have revealed that paragraphs with many numbers are difficult for every trainee because the information in such paragraphs is dense and unpredictable.Many methodologies have been conducted to solve the problem and note-taking of numbers is among such methodologies.However,daily practices show that such note-taking can improve or harm the quality of simultaneous interpretation.And thus,the role of note-taking is worth studying.Gile's Effort Model is used to analyze why the paragraphs with many numbers are difficult.A controlled experiment is conducted and qualitative and quantitative assessment is used to evaluate the result.It is found that in some aspect,notes of numbers can improve the simultaneous interpretation but for trainees,notes of numbers may hamper the simultaneous interpretation when the numbers are complicated and dense to a certain degree.Gile's Effort Model then is also used to analyze the result of the experiment.Different variables in the equation are analyzed on the basis of different paragraphs and constructive suggestions are offered including improving the method of note-taking and enhancing the ability to translate from the source language to another language.Through these methods,trainees can better utilize their notes and improve their simultaneous interpretation.
