The Comparative Study Of Narcissus Paintings

"Hai Shang Hua Pai",is the last genre in modern Chinese history.Ren Bonian was the most outstanding artist in the genre.His solid foundation of painting was edified and enlightened by his family,and then he went to Shanghai to sell paintings for making a living.His painting style was fresh and smooth.Xv Gu,he's also an artist who was known as "The greatest one of Huayuan in Late Qing Dynasty".He joined the army when he was a teenager;and then he decided to become a monk.He also made a living by sell paintings as well as Ren Bonian,and his painting style was sharp and cool.Ren Bonian and Xv Gu had been keeping in touching for almost 30 years.Even though we can find many similar aspects on their paintings,but there still were some differences between them and make their style look much more unique.They drew many paintings of narcissus.I aim to compare and study the difference of their paintings of narcissus and improve my own skill and the knowledge of Traditional Chinese painting.In this paper,the first chapter will focus on analyzing the inner cultural connotation of narcissus,which provides a basis for studying why these two artists drew such many paintings of narcissus.The second chapter will depict the common of their paintings of narcissus by studying and analyzing the combination of this two artist's life experiences and skill.The third chapter will concentrate on analyzing the differences of how they presented the narcissus on painting from skill and taste,and studying the composition,style,ink and color of the narcissus paintings by a comparative way and draw up the characteristics of their narcissus paintings.Finally,the thesis will analyze the influence of the two artists' painting style on Wu Changshuo.And then reflecting the Ren Bonian and Xv Gu's painting style were influenced by each other.In the art of diversified development period,it is a good way to build skill from studying Ren Bonian and Xv Gu's painting as an enthusiast of drawing narcissus.
