Research On Poetry In Classical Chinese Novels Of Song Dynasty

The Song Dynasty was a significant period in the transformation of ancient Chinese culture and it was also an important segment in the development of novels written in classical Chinese.One of the prominent features of classical Chinese novels in Song Dynasty was the combination of poems and prose.In these novels,we can witness a large number of poems adding to help narration,while the citation method of the poems was inherited from the novels in Tang Dynasty and changed a lot.This article analyzes the poetry in the novels of Song Dynasty written in classical Chinese,explores the reasons and effects of the poetry citation phenomenon and discusses them with the main style of that time.We hope to find out the similarities and differences on features between the poetry in novels and other poetry in Song Dynasty,comb the development process of the poetry citation phenomenon and discover the value and significance of the poetry in classical Chinese novels through this study.The whole article is divided into four chapters:The first chapter mainly summarizes the poetry in classical Chinese novels of Song Dynasty.The genre forms of the poetry include Shi poetry,Ci poetry and other verses(Chu Ci,Fu,Ming).The theme categories of the poetry include communication,expression and description,etc.Furthermore,the presenting ways of the poetry can be divided into three kinds: poetry written by the author of the novel,poetry written by the characters in the novel and poetry written by other authors.The second chapter mainly analyzes the reason and function of the quoted poems in classical Chinese novels of Song Dynasty.The exploration of the reason is based on three aspects: cultural origins,authors' fashion and readers' acceptance.The exploration of the function is discussed from three aspects: exchange of emotions,construction of plots and assistant of depiction.The third chapter mainly explores the characteristics of Song Dynasty which were reflected in the poetry of classical Chinese novels in the same time.The first section of this chapter discusses the reasoning characteristics under the influence of Neo-Confucian culture.The second section discusses the popular characteristics under the influence of citizen culture.The third section analyzes the similarities and differences in women's poetry between the novels and the real life.The fourth chapter mainly summarizes the value of the poetry in classical Chinese novels of Song Dynasty.First,we discuss the literary significance,which is divided into two aspects: poetry retention and poetry criticism;Second,we discuss the cultural significance,it includes two aspects of poetry creation story and cultural customs.Finally,we summarize the influence of poetry in ancient Chinese novels which were written either in classical Chinese or modern Chinese.
