Research On Teaching Anxiety Of Volunteer Chinese Language Teachers In Chile

With the development of Chinese language teaching,the number of Confucius Institutes is increasing day by day.Volunteer Chinese language teacher are also increasing.Hanban holds pre-post training for volunteer Chinese language teachers every year.However,after the teachers are appointed,relevant training and guidance are relatively reduced.In a different cultural environment,volunteers are faced with some teaching pressure and will inevitably face difficulties.There is some anxiety.Excessive anxiety is not conducive to the teaching work of volunteer Chinese language teachers.It is significant to find out the reasons of teaching anxiety and to take measures to overcome anxiety for Chinese teachers to adapt to the teaching environment and carry out teaching work.The teaching of Chinese language in Chile has been going on for ten years.Volunteer Chinese language teachers to teach Chinese in Chile are also increasing every year.After our interviews,we find that most Chilean students have low motivation to study and poor self-discipline.Coupled with the language and cultural factors,volunteer Chinese language teachers in Chile have a strong sense of anxiety in the process of teaching.In view of the above issues,this paper uses volunteer Chinese language teachers in Chile as research objects and attempts to study the teaching anxiety of them.This article draws on the research of predecessors.The "Questionnaire" combined with the situation of volunteer Chinese language teacher in Chile and made the questionnaire for volunteer Chinese language teachers who were in Chile from 2017 to 2018.We did questionnaires for three times.In this article,SPSS 24.0 was used for data statistics and analysis.We also did some interviews;Wei-chat records and other qualitative research were also used.We hope to be able to solve the following problems:First,how is the teaching anxiety level of Chinese teachers?How do it vary throughout their term of teaching?Is it changed a lot?Second,how do the teaching anxiety levels of Chinese teachers in every dimension?How do it vary in every dimension during their term of teaching?Is it changed a lot?Third,what are the major causes of teaching anxiety for Chinese language teachers in Chile?Fourth,what measures are taken by volunteer Chinese language teacher to ease their anxiety?Is it effective?We found that during the entire period of teaching,the anxiety level of volunteer Chinese language teachers decreased with the development of time.Comparing predecessors's research,we find that the anxiety scores of Chinese teachers in Chile are higher than the novice Chinese teachers in the European Confucius Institutes in various periods.From the significant degree,during the period from the pretest to the posttest,the anxiety level score of the novice teachers in European Confucius Institutes did not change significantly,while the anxiety level of the volunteer Chinese language teachers in Chile changed significantly.In addition to the student evaluation,the scores of teaching anxiety among the volunteer Chinese language teachers in Chile showed a trend of decreasing first and then increasing.However,the anxiety level of each dimension decreased significantly during the entire period of teaching.This is also different with the previous research results.The previous research results show that the teaching anxiety scores of the new Chinese language teachers in European countries have changed in each dimension,but not significant.In the researches of predecessors,they studied the influence of the teacher's professional,academic qualifications,and teaching experience on the level of teaching anxiety.In addition to the above factors,our study also studied the influence of the number of students taught by teachers,the grades of students,and the location of their teaching sites on the anxiety level of the subjects.Among them,we found that the major had significant influence on the language using,classroom management,pre-arrangement of the subjects.In terms of the influence of teaching experience,the research in this study is also different from previous research.The study found that although factors such as different majors,academic qualifications,teaching experience,teaching subjects,and teaching sites did not have a significant effect on the overall anxiety level of the participants,the anxiety scores of volunteer Chinese language teachers in Chile on different single topics were affected.The significant influence of the factors indicates that teachers with different backgrounds have different sources of teaching anxiety.This also requires us to propose corresponding solutions for different sources of anxiety.We have proposed several suggestions for resolving the anxiety of the Chinese language teachers in Chile.First of all,teachers should individually improve their teaching skills and professional knowledge,improve their Spanish level,and communicate with related teachers,family,and friends.The management agencies which manage volunteer Chinese teacher should also provide certain support for them.Finally,the school at which the volunteer Chinese language teachers work should also cooperate with the teaching work of Chinese teachers to provide them with certain help.
