The Study On Teaching Materials Of "The New Chinese Textbook Of The Philippine Version"

It is well known that quality of a textbook plays an important role in the teaching process.Similarly,the textbook of Chinese teaching is an important element in the process of overseas Chinese education."The new Chinese textbooks of the Philippine version" are teaching materials compiled by the Overseas Community Affairs Council of Taiwan,designed for school-age children in the Philippines.After having continuously been compiled and modified for more than ten years,they have been widely used in the Philippines.However,the teaching materials should be adjusted with the change of environment and the advance of time.This paper considers "The new Chinese textbooks of the Philippine version" as the object of research,combining the theories of compiling textbooks and language teaching to analyze vocabularies,grammar points,contents and exercises of lessons of the set of textbooks.The aim of this paper is to understand the practical advantages and its existing shortcomings of the set of textbooks and corresponding opinions and suggestions will also be put forward in this paper in order to make these textbooks more applicable when used in the Philippine Chinese school.
