The new curriculum reform requires teachers to improve teaching methods in the teaching process.It promotes teachers to utilize independent learning,cooperative learning and inquire learning strategies making students the center of the class.For front-line teachers,it is important to change teaching approaches,transform students' learning strategies and improve their learning ability.This study is based on the theory of constructivism taking the consideration of the psychological characteristics of students and the knowledge system of college students.The application of the flipped classroom in independent college English reading course is to verify whether the flipped classroom teaching model can increase students interests in learning English,whether it can improve the teaching effect,whether it can cultivate students' autonomous learning ability and cooperation ability and whether it is suitable for independent college English reading teaching.This research is to study the application of the flipped classroom in independent college English reading course on the basis of the constructivism and the output hypothesis theories.The author would do some research on some college English reading teaching methods,if the flipped classroom teaching model can help with the change of the students' learning attitude and improve their academic scores.This research focuses on the three following research questions: Firstly,what is the degree of the students' recognition of the flipped classroom teaching model? Secondly,whether the flipped classroom teaching model is helpful to change the students' learning attitude? Thirdly,what is the teaching effect of the flipped classroom teaching model in comparison with the traditional teaching model? In order to answer the above three questions,the author did a four-month study in Changchun University of Finance And Economics.Two classes,totally 76 students from Grade 2016 took part in the study.One was the controlled class and the other was experimental class,The questionnaire method and examination method were used for data acquisition.The questionnaire surveys were carried out before and after the flipped classroom to compare the abilities of students in many fields by the statistical analysis of the data,in order to build the solid basis for scientific evaluation of teaching.The study was carried out using five steps:(1)Preparation for teaching video and teaching guidance pre-class.(2)Developing the training model of the flipped classroom.(3)Performing comparative experimental teaching and classroom observation,(4)Carrying out questionnaire surveys and English reading tests after the experiment.(5)Collecting and analyzing data also draw the conclusions.Through four-month study and the experimental data analysis,the following conclusions are obtained: experimental students had positive attitude towards the flipped classroom teaching model;students' learning attitude had been changed greatly;EC students showed their interests in English reading classes;the EC students' scores had a great improvement while the CC score hadn't.This indicates that the application of the flipped classroom in independent college English reading class is helpful to improve students' English reading ability,to increase their interests in college English reading,to promote their self-learning ability.This study provides practical experiences of English reading teaching in the independent college.
