Learning motivation is an important affective factor that influences the effect of second language acquisition.Studying motivational strategies is conducive for the teacher to using motivational strategies to better motivate,maintain,and even enhance the student's learningmotivation which can also help to achieve better language learning effect.The current research on Thai students' Chinese learning motivation mainly focuses on the study of the types of motivation,characteristics,and it's influencing factors.It lacks the exploration that guiding with the motivation theory of Chinese learning motivation strategies and their effectiveness and appropriateness is unknown.This study designed the questionnaire with the inference of Dornyei's Three-Level Theory of Second Language Learning Motivation and use it survey to examine 502 students whose come from primary school,secondary school,vocational college,and university in Thailand for investigating their basic situation of Chinese learning motivation.We found that The main types of motivation for Thai students are:linguistic levelmotivation,learning situational level motivation,and learner level motivation;In learner level motivation,boys are stronger than girls and students learning Chinese as required lesson are stronger than students learning Chinese as elective lesson;Chinese ethnic students are stronger than non-Chinese ethnic students at all motivation level;There are significant differences in all the motivation level of students at different ages,students aged from 8 to 12 are significant different from other age group;Primary school students' motivation are strongest in all type of motivation whereas the vocational college student's motivation are weakest in all kind of motivation;The longer they learn Chinese,the stronger their linguistic level motivation and learning situational level motivation.Based on the results of the questionnaire survey,the basic national conditions and educational concepts of Thailand,the researcher designed some motivational excitation strategies for the language level,learner level,and learning situation level,and used the methods of sample tracking and teaching experiments for primary school students and university students to verify the effectiveness and appropriateness of motivational strategies.The study found that language-level motivational excitation strategies are failed in primary schools;However,all the motivational excitation strategies got a good effect on university students.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part mainly introduces the background,content,methods,innovations,etc.of this research.At the same time,it analyzes the theory and empirical research status of the second language learning motivation both at domestic and abroad,summarizes the problems existing and unconcerned in current research;The second part mainly elaborates the design of the questionnaire,the process and the object of the survey,;Analyzes the survey data and results;Summarizes the basic situation of Chinese learning motivation of the Thailand students;The third part combines questionnaire survey results with the researcher teaching practice in Thailand to design the motivational excitation strategies for Thai native Chinese learning students at primary level and apply them to practical teaching to test the effectiveness and relevance of motivating strategies.
