As the earliest and easiest communicative oral language for foreign students to learn Chinese, greetings are the friendly signals that allow people to ask about each other's concerns and symbolizes civilization and etiquette. There are seven types of greeting words, namely, common type, appellation type, wish type, concern type, conversational type, praise type, posture type and there are four characteristics, namely, reciprocity, objectiveness, regionalism and epochal. There are five main problems during the study of Thai students' Chinese greeting in the primary stage, which are influenced by learning strategies, teachers' teaching materials and negative transfer of mother tongue culture: the particular kinship appellation in Chinese are strange;confusing Chinese "Hello" with Thai “???????????/??????????”;weak mastery of universal names in today's society;lack of accurate mastery of traditional greetings;difficult to understand conversational greetings. How to develop the teaching of Chinese greeting language for Thai students at the primary stage? For students,it is necessary to strengthen cross-cultural awareness and learning strategy awareness, overcome the negative transfer of mother tongue culture, and control personal emotions;as teachers,we should attach importance to the teaching of Chinese greetings and pay attention to explaining the cultural connotations of greeting words. With regard to the teaching material, the number and practice of greeting words should be increased, the language should be true, the forms should be diverse, and the content should be novel. In order to improve teaching effects, game teaching method, situational teaching method, contrast teaching method and multi-media teaching method can be adopted in teaching.
