A Study Of The Translation Of Culture-Loaded Words In Three-Body Trilogy From The Perspective Of Translator's Subjectivity

From the perspective of translator's subjectivity,the author analyzes the translators,translation strategies used in the process of translating culture-loaded words in Three-Body trilogy,exploring the influence of the translators' subjectivity on their choice of translation strategies.Three-Body trilogy has a grand narrative and,as a work of hard science fiction,contains far more elements of history,culture and society than people expect.Therefore,its translators have to face a series of obstacles caused by cultural differences.The translators must take readers' acceptability of the specific expressions into consideration in the process of translation.Judging from the response of the readers in English-speaking countries,the translators have successfully crossed the cultural chasm.In view of this point,this study focuses on the translation of culture-loaded words in Three-Body trilogy,summarizes the translation strategies,and then explores the influence of the translators' subjectivity on the choice of translation strategies,in the hope of providing references for subsequent translation practices of this kind.In the translation of culture-loaded words in Three-Body trilogy,the translators'subjectivity influences translation strategies mainly from four aspects:Firstly,the purpose of the translation project,which is to ensure the commercial value of translated text and to follow the "going global" strategy of culture,makes the translators constantly adjust theirtranslation strategies.Secondly,the translators' excellent cultural competence andconsciousness enable them to reasonably control the process of translation,clearly aware ofwhich parts should be explained by annotations and which parts are not suitable for pauses.Then the translators could reasonably select translation strategies.Thirdly,the translators'reader awareness ensures that they have a clear understanding of readers' receptivity.Thusthe translators could clearly know whether the translation of a word needs additionalexplanations or not.Finally,the translators' creativity enables them to take an unconventionalway to reproduce the effect of the source text.To sum up,in the process of translating culture-loaded words in Three-Body trilogy,the translators have selected suitable translation strategies,which reflects the influence of the translators' subjectivity,and have achieved good effect.
