With the translation of Chapter 6 of American Drama in the Age of Film being the main research object,under practical guidance of Peter Newmark's semantic translation and communicative translation theory,this report focuses on analysing some typical translation examples based on the deep understanding of the source language text and its language characteristics of the author's,aiming to analyze how to use the corresponding translation strategies effectively.The study report can be divided into six parts.The introduction part,as the first part,briefly introduces the purpose and significance of this translation practice and its research methods and theories.The second part gives the basic introduction to the translation task.The third part presents the description of translation process.The forth part mainly from two aspects,introduces the translation theories applied in the thesis including a brief analysis of Semantic translation and Communicative translation theory and its application in the process of translation practice.The fourth part serves as the analysis of some translation cases,that is,it is based on the guidance of corresponding translation theories and translation strategies.This part is aimed at further analyzing the original and the translation at three levels embracing the vocabulary,sentence patterns,and the quotation of figures of speech respectively.The sixth part as the summary of the translation practice,mainly elaborates the experience gained in the research process,and points out the deficiencies and defects.The author hopes that this report can throw light on translation practice. |
