| As a special application style, scientific text has a complex relationship between sentence components, using words to pursue accurate economics and expanding sentence patterns, and has a strict grammatical structure. With the deepening of China’s in-depth forestry system reform and increasing external cooperation and exchanges, the participation of international capital has grown rapidly in the development of China’s forestry projects.International forestry cooperation has gradually expanded, and the demand for forestry translation has increased. However, the extensiveness of the forestry project also makes the content of the forestry project documents rich and varied;the project documents may also be influenced by factors such as project planning and project progress. The content of this kind of text is not as rigorous and elegant as the academic scientific literature, resulting in more complexity in the source text. The difficulty of translation is therefore greatly increased.During the internship in the Forestry Department of Hunan Province, the author worked as a translator for some forestry projects. It is found that some typical Chinese sentence patterns in forestry translation can be processed with prepositions to obtain a more ideal translation, and thus in-depth research and analysis on this issue were conducted. This report selects the English translation of the "Midterm Overall Design of AFD Loan Hunan Sustainable Forestry Management Project" as the research text, and uses Halliday’s systemic functional grammar theory as a guide to study the role of prepositions and prepositional structures in the translation of forestry science and technology texts,in order to solve difficulties in the translation of Chinese sentences or structures in forestry Chinese-English translation, and to help the translations achieve the purpose of accurately and faithfully conveying information and improve the quality of translations. |
