Space production depends on the nature of the space itself and the relationship between the actors and the space.On the one hand,space production is concerned with the shaping of space by people and capital.Capital and power have become the main driving force of space production.Capital acts on the production of material,socio-economic space,while power acts on the production of abstract,political-institutional space.On the other hand,space production is concerned with the nature of space itself.All kinds of social relations can not only form space,but also be restricted by space.These relationships can exist only when social relations are expressed in space,they are projected into space,solidified in space,and in this process the space itself is produced.This paper focuses on the reconstruction of the mosque in the Hui community,which provides a valuable and vivid case for understanding the space production.This research is based on the theory of space production of Lefebvre,and chooses the religious activity space as the space type of the study,takes the mosque reconstruction as an example,uses the participatory observation method and the in-depth interview method,deeply participates in the mosque reconstruction,pays close attention to the religious activity space and the action person's relations,and the actors to shape the religious activity space collective negotiation process.For this unique space production process,this paper puts forward the following questions: 1.In the Hui community,what role did the different actors play in the production of religious space,and what are their specific production processes?2.What are the effects of the local construction mechanism on the production of religious activities space in the Hui community?Through the discussion of the space production of religious activities,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The study found that space contention or competition based on discipline and resistance should not be the only way to explain space production,creativity in daily life and collective negotiation among the actors can also be an important way to shape space.The space for religious activities is interdependent with that of religious people,not the object of space contention by the actors,whose space production is the result of the collective participation,design,consultation and creation of local and field actors.(2)The production of the religious activity space is a process of interaction and coordination between the spatial subjects,which play different but coordinated roles in the perception of perceived space,the conception of "conception space" and the reconstruction of "perceptual space" at three levels.First,the appeal and mobilization of religious elites is the trigger mechanism to promote the production of religious activities into public issues.The appeal of the religious elite(imam)and its social mobilization have formed the triggering mechanism,aroused the public's widespread concern and aroused the public's request for change,and made the mosque reconstruction formally into the important topic that the local residents discussed together.Second,"collective negotiation" based on complementary experience is the sharing mechanism of the production design scheme of religious activities space.The structure and form of the mosque as a building is deeply influenced by the local religious elites,economic elites and local residents,whose scheme design and some capital come from the external actors and their extensive social relations,and the reconstruction plan was formed and perfected through collective negotiation by the temples,Imam,entrepreneurs,grass-roots cadres,planners,architects and other actors.(3)In the process of the production of religious activities space,the local and religious emotion and local attachment,the cross local negotiation,and the local dependence of capital are the necessary construction mechanism of religious activities space production.The Hui community is located in the scattered geographical background of our country.The production of religious space is not only involving the participation of the friends of the Han people,but also the help of the Hui compatriots scattered in other areas;Religious belief,as the unique strength of the inner-born Hui community,promoted the local development in turn;Finally,the rich local resources promote the production of religious space,but ultimately the successful completion of the need to take the place of capital and cross-local integration.Thus,in the case of mosque reconstruction,the space production of religious activities can be summed up as a collective social action with broad participation in consultation,a space production involving sharing,collective consultation and creating together.This fully demonstrates that the production of space for religious activities differs from the regulation/control and resistance/resistance space production,which is a different nature of space production,thus deepening the debate on space production mechanisms at two levels of the nature of the space itself,the relationship between the actors and the religious activity space.Of course,the thesis also needs more in-depth study and investigation of the behavioral subjects and religious buildings in the case,and the views on the space production of religious activities need more support from the case.
