This report is based on the practice of simultaneous interpreting in the 4th Central China Design Science International Seminar in Jingdezhen(hereinafter referred to as the Jingdezhen Conference).The Conference was an event held by Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute as an international platform to communicate the frontier of design science discipline.In the conference,the author participated in SI practice for 11 times,20 minutes each.The four appendixes used in this report were all selected from the speeches of the on-site speakers.The total number of words exceeds 20,000 words.The interpretation was the original one.The purpose of this thesis is to summarize the personal practice of simultaneous interpreting and to find commonalities in the case study;on the other hand,is to sublimate practice and use relevance theory and case studies to help with one of the main problems in the simultaneous interpreting of Chinese and English--anticipation.Here,the report tries to summarize the anticipation regularly so as to better guide the practice of simultaneous interpreting.In this regard,this paper studies the C-E SI anticipation based on the selected materials,combining the case study and the contents of relevance theory,in order to explore the instructiveness of relevance theory from the aspects of linguistic relevance,socio-cultural relevance,speaker's profession relevance,and encyclopedia knowledge relevance in the Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation.The RT holds that optimal relevance is the key to realize communication.Relevance is determined by both the contextual effect and the processing effort.Under the same other conditions,the greater the cognitive effect achieved in processing an input,the stronger the correlation,and vice versa.Only when the interpreter finds the optimal connection can be possible to create a good foundation for the best interpretation.This paper found that the Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation guided by the Relevance Theory not only narrows the contextual differences between source language and target language,accurately conveys the core of information and saves time and effort,but also enables the audience to accurately grasp the essentials conveyed by speakers.Therefore,this theory has a good guiding role in the C-E simultaneous interpretation.However,the author also found some deficiencies.The research ignored the complex changes in the differences between the subjects and the possible impacts on language communication.
