Research On The Status And Problems Of IP In Non-fiction Writing

“Non-fiction writing” originated from the US from the 1960 s to the 1970 s.In this period,the American society developed much faster than in the past.The social economy,culture and ideology in the US all had earth-shaking changes.True stories in the real life were much more fantastic than films.At that time,“New Journalism”and“non-fiction novel”were very popular in the US.This is the origin of non-fiction writing.After this period,non-fiction writing began to have a prominent status in the US literature.At that time,the US was just like today's China,which has become the world's second-largest economy after 30 years of economic reform.Nowadays,China ' s appearance,cities,villages,social culture,economy and ideology all have dramatic changes.Since the introduction of non-fiction writing in China in 2010,after several years of development,a lot of phenomenal non-fiction works emerged and got an important status in China's mainstream literature.Since some nonfiction has sold film and television rights,non-fiction writing platforms sprung up soon.Meanwhile,the journalism industry also began to have great enthusiasm for intellectual property commercialization of non-fiction works.However,as the public praise for internet literature declined significantly,the readers gradually restored their reason.In the TV& film field,a public praise-oriented market formed.In addition,capitalists preferred non-fiction works very much.As a result,non-fiction works constituted a new source for TV & film adaptation.However,non-fiction works seem a little homogeneous in China,compared with South Korea and Hollywood,where true stories adapted for TV dramas or films are very mature.As non-fiction works originate from true stories,which may involve social problems or politically sensitive issues,it's difficult for dramas or films based on them to pass the censorship system.In addition,in the process of film adaption,film producers may violate privacy or reputation of parties in the real life,as they often want to intensify conflicts in the plot.In the commercialization-orientednon-fiction writing,authors are also faced with some other problems such as business ethics.Therefore,support from relevant laws and regulations are required to create an environment more favorable for non-fiction writing,in order to facilitate effective and healthy development of non-fiction work intellectual property.In terms of talent cultivation,education will be the focus.Universities should attach great importance to cultivating non-fiction writing talents.In addition,non-fiction writing platforms should also attach great importance to talent cultivation,support authors and create a favorable business model.In a word,development of non-fiction work intellectual property requires joint efforts from the government,schools,non-fiction writing platforms and authors.
