The Current Situation And Teaching Problems Of Hotel English In Secondary Vocational School

In recent years,with the country's unprecedented emphasis on vocational education and further development of vocational education in many fields,the Secondary Vocational Schools are coming to the vigorous development.However,it is the fact that students studying in the Secondary Vocational Schools have very poor English and quite bad habits of learning English,which is because of the source of students.Comparing to the Normal High School students,students who are studying in Vocational Schools are weak in knowledge and culture learning.Even though Secondary Vocational School students have less pressure of entering universities,they are facing a huge pressure of getting jobs.Therefore,as a Secondary Vocational School student majoring in Hotel English,mastering some basic knowledge of English is not the only aspect,but his or her communicating ability by using practical English is also an important aspect.The writer has been engaged in Hotel English teaching in the Secondary Vocational School.During the charge of the teaching process,the writer has a profound understanding of the Hotel English teaching,which is a very practical subject.Therefore,we need to focus on the following aspects while we are teaching Hotel English.First,we need to pay attention to spoken English and practical teaching.Second,we need to improve the teaching effect by using different activities and different methods according to different language contexts.Thus,the writer puts forward the following four research questions.Research question one,what are the current situation and problems of teachers' teaching Hotel English? Such as,teaching methods,teaching contents and important and difficult points in teaching Hotel English.Research question two,what are the current situation and problems of students' learning Hotel English? Such as,students' learning methods and basic English knowledge.Research question three,what are the current situation and problems of school management on Hotel English teaching? Such as,cultivating English teachers.Research question four,what are the current situation and problems of Hotel English materials selection? This study is based on a case in Tongbai Secondary Vocational School in Henan province,of which investigation and analysis of the current situation of Hotel English teaching are made.Its aims are to recognize the current situation of Hotel English teaching in Secondary Vocational Schools,to find out the main problems,and to try to find out the solutions,through making questionnaires of eighty students who are studying in Tongbai Secondary Vocational School in Henan province and giving interviews of eight teachers who are teaching English in Tongbai Secondary Vocational School in Henan province.According to the results of the study,there are four important aspects of the current teaching problems,which are teachers,students,Secondary Vocational Schools and Hotel English materials.The writer puts forward its own ideas and suggestions on how to improve this current situation after dealing with these problems carefully.In order to improve the quality of Hotel English teaching in the Secondary Vocational School,we need to focus on the following aspects.First,we need to improve English teachers' teaching behaviors and teaching methods.Second,we need to change our students' learning attitudes and develop their learning strategies.Third,we need to strengthen the supervision and administration of the schools to their teachers' teaching activities.Last,we need to pay close attention to the teaching materials so that we can make sure that the teaching materials fit in with the needs of the development of the hotel industry.Considering that Hotel English teaching in Secondary Vocational Schools is not paid much attention to,the writer wishes the thesis can make an active result in this field.
