As a kind of aesthetic characteristic, the tragic style can not only express the sufferings of life, but also show a tragic beauty through the emphasis of life's persistence and pursuit of value. The tragic style is an important feature of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. But few researchers studied Hans Christian Andersen's tragic fairy tales from the perspective of education.Taking Hans Christian Andersen's tragic fairy tales as the research object, this study explored the enlightenment of Hans Christian Andersen's tragic fairy tales and its inspirations to today's education. We hoped to guide children to understand and respond to the life's pain through a tragic, aesthetic way.In the fairy tales,Andersen uses special words and artistic techniques to gently present suffering to his main reader-children,endows the fairy tale characters with the possibility of transcending suffering with God,dreams, and hinted of a new ending, and brings hope to children in the misery. The process of enlightenment by Andersen's tragic fairy tales is presented by the interpretation of the concrete text and the changes of children's cognition and aesthetic feeling.First,Andersen evokes children a sense of identity and sympathy through shaping the images of kindness and weakness, and let them feel the physical and mental pain of protagonist and realize that the imperfection of the real world and the despair and negativity of the soul in pain, which makes the starting point of enlightenment. Then,Andersen encourages children to face the pain positively by the action of character.By doing so,children can learn to accept the trials of growing up and feel the strength and warmth of love in suffering, which is the orientation of the enlightenment. Finally,Andersen shows the everlasting desires of the good things and the eternal immortality of the good souls by writing death, and gives children the conviction of the uncertain world which is full of suffering, which is the goal of enlightenment. In this process, children feel pain, depress, then feel encourage, hope, and finally feel calmness, thus to achieve the sublimation of cognition and emotion.Children can learn to face the suffering in a correct belief, care the suffering of others with compassion, and let off steam to purify the soul in the story.Andersen's tragic fairy tales can be used as a supplement to the education of China in suffering respect.Andersen's tragic fairy tales present the suffering by an artistic way,and bring the spiritual care and guidance to children. When we lead children to study tragic fairy tales,we should consider that how much pain children are able to withstand, grasp the correct reading guidance principles, and seek various ways to lead children to study tragic fairy tales.
