The "death" motif refers to the smallest narrative unit and meaning unit in the death of Andersen's fairy tales.It is the basic behavior,spiritual phenomenon and the basic concept of death in the world around,representing the basic behavior,spiritual reflection and cognition of the surrounding death phenomenon of the characters when they face the issue of life and death.As the smallest narrative unit and meaning unit carrying the meaning of death,the motif of "death" was applied by Andersen to the creation of fairy tales in three aspects:(1)three life types involving death in fairy tales: surreal creatures,plants and animals in nature and human beings.Through the comparison of different life in the face of life and death choice,it is concluded that Andersen attaches great importance to the value of human life,as well as Andersen's affirmation of the spiritual value of human life.(2)in addition to highly affirming the value of human life,Andersen's fairy tales also reflected the real life at that time to some extent that most of the dead people in fairy tales had prototypes in reality.The death of Andersen's characters focuses on the tragic fate of the poor people at the bottom of the society.Through the description of the fate of human death,Andersen conveyed the idea of facing death in life and recognized the courage of facing death.In Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales,death is not the end of the value of life,and he believed that the spiritual power of life can be transformed into soul after death,so as to continue the meaning of life.Therefore,the pursuit of object-form-soul is Andersen's idea of the continuation of the value of life after the decay of the body.(3)Through facing up to death and searching for the object-form-soul,Andersen's fairy tales can not only guide children to face death that is the established fact of life,but also give consideration to readers' psychological feelings and reduce their fear of death in the process of children's acceptance.Through analyzing the "death" motif of Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale,this article trying to explore the form of writing death that the significance and value of life in the fairy tale has carried on the deep thinking,thus proving the Andersen's fairy tales not only have the literary value of enlightening children with rich fantasy and interest,but also have the enlightenment significance of guiding children from a rational perspective so that children can face the growing death phenomenon with correct values and will.
